sold - Vintage Mid Century Modern Arkana Black Armchair, 70s
48HR FROM DESPATCH
-Details-
Statement accent chair manufactured by Arkana. The Safari Lounge Chair was designed by Maurice Burke, made in Great Britain from the 1970s
These armchairs are a design icon of Midcentury Modern luxury.
They are really comfortable and are a timeless design with variations of these also being produced by Skippers Mobler, Soren Willadsen and Arne Norell for Scanform .
Very well made, they are composed of black lacquered wood legs and chromed metal tubes on which the faux-leather seat and back are fixed by statement rivets which are of the era.
Low armchairs with padded faux-leather, they offer a relaxed comfort. The backrest reclines and moves to follow the position of your back, as the seat is designed as a sling mounted in a frame.
Functional, although well used and would make a great accent in a bedroom or living room as a statement piece to add some deign edge into your living space.
VARIATIONS OF THESE ALSO BEING PRODUCED BY SKIPPERS MOBLER, SOREN WILLADSEN AND ARNE NORELL FOR SCANFORM .

there is a slight movement in the chair - from front to back all rivets have been tightened and the chair is sturdy overall - a quirk of a used piece
light scratches and some light pitting can be found on the metal - does not detract
overall chrome is in very good condition
the faux leather well preserved with one nick and some two slight traces of use which ass to the patina.
The legs have some slight dings and have been toned, consistent with a used item.
All of the above points are noted for transparency and ease of purchase online. It does not detract from the items and is part of the aesthetic of vintage design pieces.
